Promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in Kasungu
On Friday, March 8th, 2024, we visited our outgrower scheme farmers in Kasungu. These farmers grow crops in their respective fields, and we have also set up demonstration plots to promote good agricultural practices (GAP). We were able to organize these field days thanks to the AID-I project managed by CYMMYT, which is funded by USAID. During these field days, different scientists and farmers came together to review and share knowledge on what's working and what's not. In Malawi, NITROFIX Inoculant is the farmers' most trusted inoculant, and CG9 is a certified seed that must be used for groundnuts. CG9 is drought-tolerant and resistant to rosette. Inoculants with lime and compound basal fertilizers containing P and K, as well as trace elements, are crucial for degraded and acidic soils.
